How Valley Interior Systems Manages their Prefab Project Lifecycle

Valley Interior Systems is a specialty contractor that’s grown their team over three generations to over 1000 employees. The team has completed major commercial projects including the TQL Stadium in Cincinnati, OHThe Omni Hotel in Louisville, KY and the BNA Delta Sky Club in Nashville, TN. Valley Interior Systems is actively investing in their prefab business and considers offsite construction a major competitive advantage for growth and scale over the coming years. Hence, they’ve turned to Offsight as their core platform to help manage their end-to-end prefab project lifecycles.

In this case study, we review how Valley Interior Systems (Valley) leverages Offsight to manage their entire project lifecycle from pre production and planning, through prefabrication and final verification and shipment. We review how an end-to-end platform like Offsight allows the team to collaborate on complex commercial projects and deliver projects faster and more efficiently, while maintaining exceptional quality.

Planning A Commercial Prefab Project

By leveraging Offsight’s pre production capabilities, Valley can begin planning an entire project from design through prefabrication and shipment. Valley leverages Offsight’s Planning Dashboard to identify key stages in their project lifecycle including design, machine cutting, assembly and shipment. They assign labor resources to each phase or step in the process and plan out both the fabrication of steel components and the final assembly of their steel panels. Valley then generates a robust prefab project plan by leveraging Offsight’s algorithms for forecasting and estimating. The forecasted start and end dates of the design process, the fabrication of all components that feed into a finished product and the assembly of the finished panels themselves are all displayed in a dynamic Gantt chart and made available to production and project teams for reference once the project starts.

Managing the Prefabrication Process

With Offsight’s Production & Quality Tracking capabilities, Valley can manage the entire factory prefabrication and manufacturing process from start to finish. Like with the planning phase of the project, all finished panels and subassemblies can be tracked in real-time from the shop floor. Operators can utilize Offsight’s mobile app to access shop drawings specific to the product they are working on at their specific workstation or process step. Production is tracked against the target start and end dates for each panel and all quality issues can be recorded and resolved through Offsight’s Alert Dashboard.

Coordinating Shipping and Delivery

Once prefabrication completes, Valley leverages Offsight’s Reporting & Auditingfeature set to complete final quality verification and sign offs for all finished panels. Image verification and digital quality checklists can be provided in daily reports to project stakeholders as confirmation. Valley can set up workflows in Offsight’s Reporting Dashboard to automatically generate these reports for project stakeholders and coordinate on onsite delivery and installation.

“At Valley Interior Systems we pride ourselves at being a leader in prefab and offsite construction. We are rapidly growing and expanding our prefab operations and turned to Offsight’s industry leading software to help us scale our factory production, manage our materials and plan, forecast and estimate costs on our prefab projects.”
